Apr 25, 2006, 20:09

Boxx Technologies' APEXX 8 workstation leverages new processor and architecture technology to offer increased interactivity to visual effects professionals. The new workstation makes use of eight Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors allowing users to work with full 2K resolution, 10-bit files and has enough memory (up to 128GB) to work in real-time on extremely large files. With its increased performance across 16 processing cores, the workstation allows users to work on 2K resolution, 10-bit digital intermediates with ease so that colorists can get real-time feedback on timing choices.

Based on the integration of non-proprietary PC technologies, Apexx 8 is designed to optimize the performance of todayÕs professional animation, modeling and effects software. Featuring new VFX relevant PC technologies, it is designed to optimize the performance of todayÕs professional animation, modeling and effects software. Featuring Hyper-Transport technology and integrated Memory Controllers in each Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor, APEXX 8 delivers outstanding performance scaling across 16 cores; its 128GB of memory plus incredibly fast data interconnect between CPUs make it one of the fastest 64-bit graphics workstations currently available. The APEXX 8Õs extraordinary system architecture is delivered in a quiet and compact tower chassis that can accommodate a great range of storage configurations including 7+ TB of local storage for instant access to large CG files, and blazing fast I/O for high bandwidth add-on cards.
